J.K. was born in Malaysia in 1963 in grew up in a rural town called Bentong nestled in the Malaysian Titiwangsa Mountains. He moved to Singapore to further his studies under the prestigious ASEAN Pre-University scholarship in 1980 and continued his university education there. He now lives in Singapore with his wife and two children.
